Halloween


On 31 October we celebrate Halloween, known in Brazil as the "Dia das Bruxas". The celebration of Halloween are more common in Anglo-Saxon countries. In Brazil, the fellowship of the "Dia das Bruxas" is becoming increasingly known and practiced by society.

On that date, one in four people with ages ranging from eighteen to forty years some kind of fancy dress representing a certain character.

In Brazil, the celebration of this date is recent. Has come to our country through the great influence of American culture, especially coming from television.

Definition: "Hallowed" is an old English word meaning "holy," and "e'en" is also of English origin meaning "night", so the meaning is "Holy Night" or "All Hallows Eve," "Night All Saints. "

Halloween was created by the Celtic people who lived in the British Isles five centuries before Christ. They invented the party to mark the official end of summer, beginning of year again, the end of the last harvest, renewal of laws, return of livestock and storage of supplies for the winter.

The party had several names like Samhain, Samhein, La Samon and the Feast of the Sun.
