Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel



From 1926 to 1950, the American Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel British formed the most famous movie comedy duo: Laurel and Hardy.

The two comedians first worked together in the silent film The Lucky Dog (1921). After a period appearing separately in several short films, they started performing together in 1926. Laurel and Hardy officially became a double the following year and soon became the most profitable stars Hal Roach.

His films are classics of silent film comedy. Oliver Hardy, Laurel - round face and jovial, with a thin mustache - and his sidekick, Stan Laurel, the Thin Man - clumsy, a long face and flashing eyes - were masters of the representation of the absurd. The comic won several Oscars and in 1960 received a statuette by the whole career.

Oliver Hardy was on the morning of September 14, 1956 a stroke that left his body immobilized and died on August 7, 1957. Stan Laurel died of a heart attack on February 23, 1965.
